Reblogging again to add:

Also, non-Jews, please spread this. People will forget about it otherwise. The police say they aren’t ready to call it a hate crime, despite the fact that witnesses have said that the man was asking people if they were Jewish and waiting for an affirmative response before shooting. The more people who are paying attention to this story the harder it will be for it to be swept under the rug.

A lot of people are currently very excited about the recent Cap movie. If you believe that it was worthwhile for Steve Rogers to fight fictional nazis, please show that you care about the people harmed by those in the real world who still agree with Nazi ideology. If you can get super excited and make tons of posts about Cap, then you can do this too, right? (obviously there are people who are upset/triggered by this stuff, which is an entirely different situation. but if you can spread the word please do)

I’m very sorry to those of you who don’t come to my blog expecting to see news or other horrible real world stuff. I thought it was worth putting out there.

Also the shooter is a former KKK Grand Dragon

Hemp is a Sensible, Sustainable, Highly-Industrializable Plant

We should utilize it. Hemp could solve many problems.

END PROHIBITION. It is NOT just about smoking.

YEP.

Tobacco and hemp use to be huge crops in the area I grew up. Don’t get me wrong, these crops were produced by horrible means (SLAVERY) so I’m glad the crop declined, BUT that doesn’t dismiss the fact that in the present, it could be a useful crop. Many of the products listed above where produced from hemp 150 years ago.

If you ever read up on William Randolph Hearst (y’know, Patty Hearst’s ancestor), you’d know that at one point when newspapers were in their heyday and big big money, he went out of his way to demonize marijuana. Why? The man owned a huge amount of timber shares which were used to print his newspapers on (so he got all kinds of profits).

"Newspaper mogul William Randolph Hearst's empire of newspapers began publishing what is known as “yellow journalism”, demonizing the cannabis plant and putting emphasis on connections between cannabis and violent crime. Several scholars argue that the goal was to destroy the hemp industry, largely as an effort of Hearst, Andrew Mellon and the Du Pont family. They argue that with the invention of the decorticator hemp became a very cheap substitute for the wood pulp that was used in the newspaper industry. They also believe that Hearst felt that this was a threat to his extensive timber holdings. Mellon was Secretary of the Treasury, as well as the wealthiest man in America, and had invested heavily in nylonDuPont's new synthetic fiber. He considered nylon's success to depend on its replacement of the traditional resource, hemp.” [Wikipedia article with all the references cited]

Many people will argue this is all conspiracy theories about how marijuana steadily became illegal in the past, but I wonder. I’m sure there’s a grain of truth or two in there, because I never underestimate the greed of people who come from old money and protecting their investments with these sort of actions.
